Posting Access:All Members

Tennis slash is a community where tennis fans can post and read slash fiction about their favorite tennis players. The material is homoerotic in nature and can be very detailed. Due to that we will not be accepting any members under the age of 16. Membership has to be approved to prevent trolls, we are a relaxed little community and want to stay that way. It also helps us monitor ages. If for some reason we decline your membership three times that's it, you will no longer be able to be a member.

It is important to remember that the members of this community are not making any claims about the sexuality of any tennis players. This is a community of fictional writing any parallels to real life are just plot devices of the authors. We just borrow their likenesses and play a little.

Femslash is welcome and we fully support it.

how to post

All posts in [community profile] tennisslash are member locked. When you got to post the setting to lock the entry is already selected DO NOT change this setting when you post. Your post will be deleted.

We have a basic structure to our posts. The subject needs to have the title of the story. In the body you need a header (see below) this header needs to be above your LJ-cut, or listed before the link to the story in your journal. If you link to a friends only journal you need to have your story unlocked for at least two weeks, past that people will need to friend you. We also require you to tag all entries by player and rating with any other needed tags. An example is player: andy roddick, player: roger federer, rating: adult graphic. If you have any questions about tags see the sidebar of the layout for the link to the tag information.

Here is an example header. You do not need all the fields listed as long as you have the title, pairing and rating listed in there somewhere. So, in theory your header could just be a title and summary. We do have a general community disclaimer, but feel free to always use your own as well.

Title: Untitled
Characters: Andy/Roger, Tommy Haas/Mardy Fish, Marat Safin ( / means pairing the comma is an additional character)
Rating: R (We use the standard G-NC-17 ratings. All sex must be rated NC-17)
Disclaimer: Not mine, never were.
Warnings: Rape, character death. Subject matter that not everyone would want to read.
Summary: Anything you want and not needed. Most people do like to know a little bit about what they are going to read though.
Author's Notes: You can dedicate your fic to someone here, or write anything you think people have to know here.

To make it very easy here is the example header :0)

If any of our required information isn’t there you will be asked to fix it, and given a day or two to make the changes. If they are not made your post will be deleted.

We only have a few rules and that is for the safety and sanity of ourselves, the maintainers, as well as our members.

1. Do not flame authors. If you don’t like a pairing don’t read it. It couldn’t be any more simple than that. Constructive criticism does not need to be worded in a malicious way. It’s more about how you say something than what is actually said. Though blatant bashing of a player outside of a story will not be tolerated. You do not have to like Rafael Nadal, but his fans don’t need to read about how much you hate him in an author note. Do not make a post bashing a player, pairing, author, or anything else. This is something we have a zero tolerance policy with.

2. We love picture spams here, and they currently go under the ad: picspam tag. Make sure to lj-cut your spam with no more than one picture above the cut. Some people still have dial up and more importantly not everyone will want to see your picture post or have it load up their flist. If you do not follow this guideline you will get a warning and be asked to make the needed changes. If they are not changed within a day your post will be deleted.

3. Other slash related things such as fanmixes, fanvids, drawnings, manips, and icon posts are encouraged. They make the community much more fun and interactive. If you post something that you found and didn’t make be sure to get permission or at the very least give credit. If you don’t know where it came from say that. If we find that you stole something, or you refuse to give proper credit the post will be deleted and you will be banned from the community. Plagiarism in any form is not okay.

On that same tone a source for any interviews or quotes is needed, even if it's just something simple like mentioning the site where you found it. A full link would always be better, but not really needed. This is to keep everyone honest and more importantly because other fans might want to go and read the whole article.

4. Do not take anything from this community and post it outside of here without permission from the person you are taking it from. When we say anything we mean anything. This may be the most important rule. You will not be given a chance to explain yourself, or change what has happened. You will be banned from the community immediately and the proper action will be taken to remove the stolen material from where you posted it.

5.The formatting and lj-cuts that we ask for are basic and any questions can be answered through this information or the tags post. We also offer help to those that ask. Due to that we have a three strikes rule. After three strikes your posting access will be taken away for three weeks, and reinstated after the three weeks is over. If the same mistakes are made again then posting access will be revoked permanently.

6. Please do not post an ad promoting another community without asking first. We will have no issues with it after. It's just something we feel that we should have some control over.

Common Sense Rules

1. No graphics over 500 px ( height and width) above a cut. On that note only one picture above a cut to avoid clutter on member's flists. As far as icons go one graphic that meets the previous requirements or no more than four of them above the cut.

2. No pornographic fanart above a cut. It must be under a cut with a nsfw warning or other warning, and be rated in the tags. Non explicit fan art also needs to be rated in tags.

3. Please add what you are posting into the subject line of your post. If you are posting a Picspam just throw that up there along with anything else. It makes archiving a million times easier and keeps everything neat and tidy.

You can contact the maintainers though LiveJournal messaging or an e-mail. Make sure to include your username if you are contacting us through e-mail and put tennisslash in the topic. We love comments and suggestions.
